This type of choropleth map has the ability to show two sets of data through the use of symbols or color schemes. This is often used to determine whether two variables have some form of correlation. It can also save space and effort for the cartographer. Above is another image from a software add, showing information on Ohio. It includes two variables within it by combining them, and then assigning a color to each combination.
